Is systems programming that different from "normal" programming? Why do I rather forego my nice modelling and error checking in this corner of the universe? I do Interface with hardware on a regular basis, and I don't experience it as much differently. Documentation usually sucks, hardware often behaves unexpectedly, sometimes erratically - but so does a weirdly implemented REST API.
