I have had postdocs and PhD students from my lab publish work with other labs and I did not attach my name to the author list – to me that'd be bizarre. If funding is to be acknowledged then it is so in the Acknowledgements section, or with the postdoc's affiliation, or both. My view is that an author is someone who contributes actual work – intellectual or manual or both – as reported in the paper.
