this is...such a good description of my childhood. Next grade will be better, middle school will be better, high school will be better, you just got hang in there and everything will be fine.
And it wasn't. And every time I lost hope, and every time I did worse in school because I believed less.
Eventually I just gave up, did the bare minimum to get by. I barely graduated HS, despite taking a bunch of AP/gifted classes. I never made it to a Bachelor's. And that's stunted my career.
