Hmmm 🤔 I’m just guessing but I would think The secret services responsibility to the event formally ended when they drove away, other than internally understanding how they screwed up. As the director of the secret service she wouldn’t have the authority to disclose information gathered by an investigation of the FBI.

It’s the FBI’s responsibility to investigate crimes. And once the secret service left the area it became a crime scene. Probably technically it was the jurisdiction of local/state police. But given the nature the FBI took over or the locals gave it up. I’m not sure how that chain works.

My guess is that this fact is the FBIs to disclose because it was discovered and is apart of the FBIs investigation.

Imagine if the state police and FBI are collaborating, whoever ownes the investigation is who would speak to it, even if the FBI shared information with the state police you wouldn’t expect the state police to share that information without getting permission from them first. Or they would just refer the question to them.
