Someone on the Meta VR forum asked if it would be possible to do a walk back and forth and press a button to flip 180. I thought that would be disorienting, so I tried smooth headlocked turning. It actually felt fairly natural (well, besides it was 36 degrees in my yard and in direct sunlight).
I've seen it done using thumbstick turning, but that seems like it would feel too artificial.
