It makes sense if you imagine they're trying to expand the number of people you interact with on a regular basis. You're already doing that with your mum, but shouldn't you also be doing so with these other people you know? I mean, if they stop receiving messages they might leave the platform, and you wouldn't want that to happen, would you?
