but using conductors of different pairs as differential "pair" is bad.
the idea of the twisted pairs is that that external electromagnetic interference affects both conductors and therefore cancels out.

if you just swapping pairs, i'd say go for it.
if you unpaired the thing, cut off the connectors and crimp anew on both ends.
