I believe it is indeed a right step. This is not different in my opinion than any other adolescent or pediatric clinical trial. You test the drug according to protocol. Protocol has to be fully scientifically based written. Ethics committee will judge about the trial's ethics (placebo and such as it was brought up, but dependent on the study design there might be no placebo) but can't include realistically preventive steps for non-scientific matters. Clinical trials take time and science to prove theories, so the future is safer and more based on tested science. Proper communication is key around the trial as this evoke a lot of feelings. I do not expect this part to be flawless but even considering that, the biggest risk I believe is in the study protocol, as if there is a scientific flop and won't convince healthcare professionals then we will need more and more studies (what is a considerable possibility), but I full heartedly hope it won't be the case. I think even a conclusive answer would not end the debate because that's when a new drug or drug combined behavoural treatment comes up that changes the ideological (maybe also scientifical) landscape and the whole cycle re-starts. I hope it will be kept under supervision and control.
