So everyone is bigging up Wes Streeting for making the puberty blocker ban on under 18s permanent across the UK.
He's even called the previous use of them a "scandal"!
BUT - the NHS are still allowed to do their "clinical trials"!
Riddle me this:
Clinical trials on WHAT? Lab rats? Or under-18s?
If it's teenagers, will there be a placebo group? What then happens if your placebo group start threatening suicide (instigated by TRAs of course) because they can't get their drugs?
The clinical trial is supposed to end in 2027 and will be reviewed!
Bearing in mind this is the FIRST proper clinical trial by any government health department!
So what happens in 2027, when the NHS reports what we already know - that puberty blockers sterilise kids and retards their development in other ways, such as their mental capacity (stuff Terfs have been screaming about for YEARS)?
What about the ones currently on these drugs, who you are allowing to continue with them, Mr Streeting?
Do you say to them in 2027, "so sorry we allowed you to stay on these totally inappropriate drugs, here's X £Millions from the taxpayer in compo"?
Or do you say to them "Ok, the drugs were a disaster, sorry and all that, but you're adults now, make your own decisions about carrying on to the cross-sex hormones and surgery, it's no longer the government's responsibility"?
So many questions. No wonder Helen Joyce has cautiously said it's a STEP in the right direction.
