Iceland has three overtly nationalist parties in parliament now, the Independence Party—the oldest—is “tightly integrated with domestic industry” (read: does what the oligarchs want), the Centre Party is overtly Trumpist, mysogynistic and racist, and the People’s Party are the populist who have sucked up votes on the left by promising to rebuild the healthcare, retirement, and welfare systems, but mixed in with a bunch of anti-immigrant, reactionary and xenophobic ideas.
