How did I find the button besides, you know, groping for it? I googled "Where is the on/off button on a Kindle Fire?" skimmed enough of the results to determine that there WAS one (the results weren't great at saying just where it was, SO many models) and then just groped.
There are a few things that tech-hesitant people have in common and one of them is a feeling that "This is a problem for the experts, not for me" sooner than most. I'm happy to help but I try to deputize people to try things
