Just watched a librarian try to turn off the library's Kindle Fire for a few min.
Finally I reached for it b/c she swore it had no button. My general tech know how-"I know it must look like there's no button but there has to be a button because that is how devices tend to work--turned out to be accurate.
In fairness to her, the button was smol. But this is a pernicious part of the digital divide: people working in public institutions who have low tech literacy can't model good troubleshooting
