Artist's Statement
To further the absolute necessity for the human species to see patterns and make connections across the microcosmic and macrocosmic scale, without cutting out or ignoring unpleasant pictures and realities. That is, first and foremost, to point toward the relevance and importance of the “principle of correspondence”. To celebrate the spirit of creation while reminding of the deep tragedy of ongoing slavery & depravity and widespread ignorance thereof. The Artist is meant to express an antidote to Ignorance and Solipsism. To point out the unacceptable rationalisation of appalling truths in one's actions. To point toward the unity of chaos and order and the choice human beings are gifted within that deterministic paradigm to act out right over evil. To evoke a sense of ease and minimalistic calmness through disorder, aimed to strengthen and braven the spectator.
The work is the culmination of walks; paths that lead nowhere; and laying in bed when one is between sleep & wakefulness. Each component is dug out of the depths of what most would consider randomness. It is in that way a fully aware and conscious practice in irrationality, inspired and passed on by “nature”, originating from the Egyptian word “Ntr” meaning “Spirit”.
Ultimately the work ought to serve as a tool for a journey toward the full understanding of natural law. The acceptance, integration and propagation of mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, gender and care. Concepts that are immutable across the universe, that human beings ought to harmonise with if any kind of freedom is sought after.
I suppose that my effort to nurture my inner child, ultimately comes from a dissatisfaction I have with the state of the world, that is also me. In a world of growth simply for the sake of growth and often pointless innovation, my way of fighting that is to make objects, performances and media that are “useless” in their immediate materialistic utilitarian sense. The creations are a visual representation of a dilemma. My actions and what my energy goes into can be summarised as supporting used/local/small business/community/minimalism // avoiding big banks & corporations, leveraging a healthier system paralleled against the old and seemingly broken one.
Life has shown me that truth is to be found in the culmination and mix of multiple mediums, what can be described as mixed media visual and auditory creation. The result of multi-hyphenate artistry is often a surprise and the interplay between varying artistic crafts shows a deeper understanding of who we are as humans.
