The entire premise of Galt's Gulch is essentially this whole concept of "companion planting", where every Producer had a moral responsibility to create and grow a thriving ecosystem that worked together.
Dagny built railroads. Indigenous wisdom teaches us to build life roads, connecting us back to our own inherent nature.
Dagny was a Producer - a giver. That to me is very much the essence of Indigenous wisdom: create abundance. It is our moral responsibility to ourselves, each other, and the Earth.
And I very much resonate with that.

Companion Planting
In Indigenous land wisdom, there are 3 Sister plants that, when grown together, help each other thrive: Corn, Beans, and Squash.
Corn grows strong and tall. Beans twist and wind up long stalks, reaching for the sunlight. And Squash keeps the soil covered, protected and moist.
This is the holistic and integrated approach to planting. Creating a microcosm within a greater ecosystem.
Nature does not work alone. She has made puzzle pieces that fit together to make a whole.

We need to thoughtfully plant ourselves with people, partners, teammates who help us grow and thrive.

Order and harmony are not neat and tidy. In Nature, harmony looks messy but is a deeply complex system that has found equilibrium.

3 years ago we started a food waste collection program at Yellow Barn. I ran around to all the Home Depots and got them to donate 150 buckets to our cause, and there was the start of our first circular system.
The compost program is a micro-business we operate, where our community pays a monthly fee to support us driving out to their home to swap their bucket weekly. Many members sign up for egg subscriptions and order other goods from the Stalk Market, which we then deliver on-route!
The food scraps come back to the farm to feed our pigs (and piglets 😍), or used as a feedstock in our ASP compost pile.
The pigs churn and fertilize the soil, and the finished compost is layered in before planting.
Eventually, all the fruits, veggies, and flowers that grow from that soil can be delivered to our members.
I very much envision a time not too long from now where when our members first sign up for the annual farm membership get half their dues credited back to them in Bitcoin, which they can use at the market, for events, or to tip their farmers.
The farmhands can then be paid in Bitcoin, pay their rent in Bitcoin, and sell their products or crafts to the community and receive Bitcoin. The goal would be to help everyone in our community actually SEE the energy circulate through the ecosystem. And that kind of transparency creates quite a bit of awareness and empowerment for all parties involved in the circularity.

Ecosystem Equilibrium
Nature (and everything else) is in a constant state of seeking equilibrium. We live in a universe of cycles. Day and night, seasons, emotions, life, death, rebirth.
We as individuals are our own microcosms, each with a different climate, terrain, soil, and weather.
When two of these different ecological communities meet, this transition is called an "ecotone". This overlapping area is the most diverse and critical space because it creates a bridge between two different zones.
People are no different. The ecotones between us as individuals is the Social Soil we get to cultivate in our 1-1 relationships. And the ecotones we create between communities is ultimately what link us all together through our interconnecting relational circles.
Every time you engage in a conversation with someone, you have the opportunity to build that Social Soil, or degenerate it. How you choose to show up, water it, tend it, give it your utmost attention. These are all the tools we have to create healthy, abundant, and thriving social ecosystems.
We can truly only give our fullest attention and care to roughly 150 relationships. Much more beyond that and the quality of our social soil starts to decay as the system is stretched too thin.
Nurture what is in your immediate circle. That doesn't always have to be physical proximity, since technology has allowed our 150 to now span the globe. But start to look at who you would consider to be in your circles of 150 and deepen your focus on those relationships until they thrive and creates more abundance around you too.
This is the way to create ecosystem equilibrium in your own microcosm within the macrocosm.

Social Soil has been the core concept guiding the social design at Yellow Barn.
Observing land stewardship in regenerative agriculture informed much of this concept: even the most barren, compacted, dessicated land could be remediated into fertile soil.
Regenerated soil is incredibly resilient.
Relationships are the same: the need for deep roots of trust, processes for composting emotions, mycelial networks to move resource, fair and reciprocal exchanges of attention.
Once established, they are able to withstand even the most brutal elements: Torrential storms of grief, wildfires of rage, gusty winds of change. Because we did the work to create layers and layers of healthy social soil.
And once that layer is built, the seeds of ideas, hopes and dreams can truly flourish into life.
Things like money become tools to move energy - the current-you-can-see of currency - and just as water in a garden, it can be mindfully allocated in the quantity, frequency, and location most needed at that time. It's always good to have your ponds to store water but once full, you don't need any more. It's better served downstream.
Take only what you need. This is the essence what Indigenous wisedom teaches us with the Honorable Harvest. And if our technology and money can match that Ethos...well, then we're creating a whole new game.

It seems like the Fibonacci sequence gives indicators of graduating levels of coherent stability - stacking nodes in geometric form for structural integrity.
With people, the variables are not only innumerable but also dynamically responsive (environment, situational, culural influences, social ties etc) that creating stability at increasing levels of geometric complexity is quite challenging.
Hence the creation of rigid (most often hierarchical) organizational structures, contracts, laws, regulations etc - particularly as we have fragmented our micro-nodal communities into wide-spread low/no-trust societies.
There IS a need for hierarchy - but it is not infinite vertical height. It's dynamic hierarchy that stretches horizontally and follows the 80/20 Pareto Principle. Leadership dynamically shifts to the most qualified person for that specific project/task, and instead of a comand-and-order model we shift to an advice-seeking model for optimal decision-making by the Lead in that domain.
In our community ecosystem, we use nomenclature that points towards growth vs dominance - a Tree is a Lead (the "responsibiliteur" making the decisions within their Domain), the Core Team members are made up of Saplings, Sprouts and Seedlings, who are all learning how to take responsibility under the guidance and shelter of a Tree.
People - and groups of people - are ecosystems. Trees can't function without the Saplings, Sprouts and Seedlings (and all the other flora, fauna and fungi). It is symbiotic and no one is consider "superior" or "inferior", they just have different roles and responsibilities.
And this is the beginning of creating our Social Soil - the fertile foundation needed to allow humans, relationships, and communities to thrive.

Absolutely!! How on earth could we think that having ONE person or even a group (or government) have authority over MILLIONS, particularly when we see that there are multitudes of sub-cultures even within a dominant culture? It's asinine. We'd be better off with bioregional governance hubs that allow communities to self-govern. Buuuut that would require people to truly take responsibility for themselves, and most current systems have allowed/incentivized people to outsource their responsibility. So we have to rebuild our own skills in decision-making, responsibility-taking, and most importantly sovereignty.

I think that's why the idea of the web of trust or this "Coherence Chart" as I've come to call it, is so important in identifying ALL your players, their roles, and who you can quickly go to for advice. Shifting from a command-and-order model to an advice-seeking model, where people are guided to make decisions are varying levels of responsibility/risk by being encouraged to seek advice from all necessary/knowledgeable parties. So fascinating how we've developed organizational models throughout history.

Leadership is over-glorfied.
A leader without a First Follower is just a lone nut dancing on top of a hill by themselves.
You have probably seen this video. It's a great example of how any human ecosystem develops. And if you closely count the number of people as they are added, you might begin to see a familiar pattern.... 1...2....3....5....8....
The First Follower creates the first level of stability. A polarity to the Lone Nut so that a first level of equilibrium is even possible to be created.
Only then can an ecosystem begin to create a gravitational pull to bring in your Third (another greatly important role), each new addition seeking and creating equilibrium to maintain stability.
Ecosystems of people are quite fragile, at all levels. It takes tremendous work to be aware of our own pitfalls, fears, insecurities, etc to keep ourselves "in the vertical" (i.e in individual equilibrium) so that our personal and collective ecosystems don't collapse/invert.

Spent a lot of time analyzing how ecosystems of people form.
If I were to hypthosize, I think that the "software" that is running in the current human operating system is still coded for trusted networks of 150.
We started with clustered tribal communities of ~150, and in today's age, that number still stands for how many relationships we can realistically manage (trust diminishing as you spiral outward from the center).
This doodle was the first iteration of working out how to organize an ecosystem of people. From a design standpoint, people were the focal point - any business, non-profit, personal or professional network.
The goal: identify your Leads (1 per Domain), your Core Team (primary supporters to your Lead), Technicians (volunteers, contractors, etc), Advisors and Audience. Acknowledge that ecosystems have natural constraints (enough of the exponential growth BS). And your main constraints are how many relationships ONE Lead can truly manage without burning out (and still get their work done).
Especially as an entrepreneur where the first Lead is typically in multiple (if not ALL domains), the potential for destabilization is very high.
The most important person in an ecosystem? The First Follower.

There is SO MUCH POTENTIAL for this freedomtech to solve so frustratingly simple problems in the agriculture world.
A decentralized marketplace just so the consumer could SEE what products all your local farms are selling (instead of each farm having a crappy website), dock that in with the ability for gigs to offer delivery, batch orders for central pickups, and you've suddenly got a hub-and-spoke model that scales infinitely horizontally.
Literally losing my mind out here seeing how easy a fix this could be IF ALL THE SOFTWARE OUT THERE DIDNT SUCK.

I'm reposting this one because it is worthy of more context.
We've collectively been kicking the can down the road with this idea of "exponential growth curves" blah blah blah, pumping money into the system and artificially inflating everything.
And what goes up, must come down. Nature works in cycles and when something gets out of whack, that's a feedback loop. There are NEGATIVE positive feedback loops, and we're in one.
And when it comes back to the bottom, a lot of people are gonna get hurt. But the things that we're all building - #Bitcoin #freedomtech #regenag #foodsovereignty #equitylaw #plantmedicine the list goes on - ALL OF THIS is what I think of as The Tessaract. The wormhole that will get us from point A (current reality) to point B (jumping the gap back to equilibrium).
It ain't gonna be a perfectly smooth ride but if there can be more and more intersections and overlaps between the work we're all doing, the more people we can pull onboard this "Ark" as we navigate the flood.
