What I find a bit off is the idea of auto-banning all Knots nodes just because of the default settings. Not all of them censor, some actually relay everything, right?

I find it incredible how people so willingly accept Government contracts. In practice everybody that accepts or is part of a government contract, especially if that government/State is not a direct democracy and the people didn't vote for that specific contract, it's in effect the most common and widespread form of legalized stealing.
I will never understand how people accept this.
Some benefit immensely by being close to the State, while others are oppressed and persecuted with everything.
Don't you think something has to be changed?

If Trump manages to get a relatively substantial Bitcoin reserve before China, the game changes completely and forever.
Because China has the production and skills. That's clear. But they don't have the capital or the financial/ownership/politics structure (i.e the reigns of capitalism?). And a move to the most pristine form of capital would truly bring a breath of fresh air to the US in that aspect.
If the US has a better financial position, while simultaneously improving their manufacturing position (taking a bit back from China), then the world will be in a better position for the longer term.
Because we need a freedom culture in the world too. We need freedom philosophy. We need philosophy and the US is probably one of the few places in the world where people still have the balls to say the truth. That's the most valuable thing in the world in my view.

The system is absolutely broken in many ways. It has to be a multifaceted approach. Drug legalization is a piece of it. With drug legalization, millions of opportunities for more ownership would be created.
Because the real problem is ownership/agency. It's very hard to own anything, ownership has never been so expensive. You can't own anything, the rich/State have it all basically.
My point is if land was suddenly free in south America a lot of more stability and prosperity would be created. This would eventually generate better families, more opportunities, stability and peace and thus create less trauma that leads someone to despair like that in the streets of LA.
I believe more economic opportunities elsewhere mean we all benefit through competition. A lot of Americans would instantly move to South America and capitalize many places with capital, knowledge, etc, etc.

In my opinion the way out is moving to very low cost of living places. Rural, etc, etc.
I was working on a project to help people with this but kind put it on hold. The idea was https://freevillages.org/. Basically a global space/community for liberty-minded individuals creating an affordable alternative in rural places around the world.
And then of course moving to low cost of living countries. In South America, South-East Asia.
This is why any tranferrable or digital skill, remote work, etc, is very useful. Coupling that with for example stuff like Workaway.info, WOOF, etc, one can live with very little until land or housing is found for ownership. Which is very possible/affordable in these places.

Mas não podem nem vão conseguir pagar, o ponto é esse.
Há várias vias na minha opinião (que devem ser perseguidas simultaneamente):
1. Subsidiar o trabalho/vida dessas pessoas (millenials) para que elas possam continuar a produzir e manter-se no país
2. Cortar na despesa como nunca para poder continuar a subsidiar 1.
3. Comprar Bitcoin para se posicionar no futuro e manter 1. e 2.
Isto de achar que os millenials ainda vão ser mais escravos não vai acontecer.
Não vai acontecer porque essas pessoas arrancam para outros países. Isso é o que vai acontecer brevemente se as coisas não mudam.
Ou isso ou saem do sistema, que é outra coisa que eu acho que as pessoas devem fazer. Ir para meios rurais, reconstruir. Exit and build.
Mas a nível de massas, isso acontece na nação Estado urbana.
O México, Brasil, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, América do Sul, Georgia, Tailandia, etc, etc. Todos estes países oferecem propriedade extremamente mais barata com uma dívida muito menor.
Só é escravo quem quer, e o pessoal já está a abrir os olhos.

In my opinion, there's no way out of this conundrum with just education.
The people, everybody and the Portuguese included, will only learn with system collapse.
This is the learnings from Argentina. It simply doesn't work. A social welfare state will always fail unless it has precise incentives with direct democracy mechanisms like in Switzerland. The Swiss model can maintain a stable social welfare state, because the incentives there precisely define scarcity and meritocracy.
Anything else with worse mechanisms (i.e all the so called democratic world except Switzerland) will fail in due time. Fail in hyperinflation, economic collapse (asset bubble) or a combination of both.
Argentina shows that you can spend 60 years trying to explain this to people and only after the 5 or 6th hyperinflation scenario do people actually learn.
But let's see how it rolls in Portugal. The population is old also, which is not an advantage. For me the scenario in Portugal is inflation and slower economic bankrupcy for people far from the printer.
Basically a more divided, polarized Argentina on steroids because of much larger inequality (between haves and have not), much more debt, much more house/private debt, etc.
Chega if it ever gets power might delay the polarization somewhat. But they'll quickly be removed if they don't truly reform (Milei style, and much further).
It's a pre-Ditadura Militar of 1920s in Portugal but with much more inequality, polarization, debt.
By 1920s the Portuguese people were begging for the military and then the ditadura militar (which implements Salazar later on) gets implemented without opposition from anyone.
Let's see what happens :)

There's 100T in bonds, 2T in Bitcoin and 20T in gold.
I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the next 5 years (or 10 years) we have 50T in bonds 20T in Bitcoin and 30T in gold.
Even if it's just a result of monetary premium re-focus, i.e bonds might be worth 100T in 2035 but in real purchasing power they're only worth 50T.
In other words there might not an actual be a huge capital shift but just the broader market refocusing attention/trust in harder assets. In other words, some people capital will just be left to evaporate.
This happened in the Weimar Republic. Bonds did evaporate but it took some years.
In the Weimar Republic, the bond market didn’t collapse all at once through mass selling. Instead, people continued to hold onto their marks and government bonds for a long time, trusting that stability would return. At first, people kept believing in bonds and marks — even through 10–20% inflation — hoping the situation was temporary. It wasn't until trust in the currency completely evaporated, after repeated devaluations and uncontrollable inflation, that the real value of those assets vanished. The destruction was gradual at first, then sudden, as confidence drained away and hard assets like gold and land absorbed the fleeing monetary premium.
Now, I don't think this will probably happen again in the same way, in such a huge collapse. Most likely we will have a soft reset, and a permanent Bitcoin integration into the current financial system, just bringing harder assets to the current system in many different ways.

Sure, the polity that is most important to one will change it's name and it drastically depends on the person. The current nation state is not the most important polity for a lot of people because technology is competing with it.
But I'm not saying that I want that to happen or not. I personally certainly don't need or live as if I needed the nation state. I'm a voluntaryist at heart, I live as if there were no states. In essence I personally don't care about any of these nation states.
But that doesn't mean it's not important for millions of people, that there's no real politik for millions of people that know zero about this. For most people the nation state is and will be the most important polity in existence. We can't ignore this fact and that's mostly what I'm referring to.
And in that sense, the US is revolutionizing the nation state arena.

What Trump is doing will be replicated by all the countries that will want to be meaningful in the future.
Manufacturing base, self-sufficiency, Bitcoin, 21st century financial mechanisms (Bitcoin reserve, potentially Bitcoin bonds).
This is the model for the 21st century nation state. The formula is out for the world.
In 4 years, they'll conclude they'll need another 4 years of the formula, and in 8 years the world will be educated again.
Free trade never worked. It was always an ideology of the elites. Ha-Joon Chang has a great book about it, Kicking Up The Ladder.
Free trade only benefits the global elites. The nation state is a good invention, it just needs an upgrade.
Self-sufficiency, circular economies, sovereignty is the real wealth. We need to produce the things that we use. We don't need cheap things, we need to control our lives. The US will show the direction.

One of the most important issues (if not the) was that there wasn't a non zero sum game/network/currency/store-of-value that allowed us all to succeed simultaneously and together.
And thus... we were stuck in competition mode.
Bitcoin changes that and it removes the focus from competition to collaboration, allowing for specialization. Because think about it, if we're not competing, but instead we're collaborating, we can specialize and still benefit from it all.
We now have a predictable store of value that will allow us ALL to benefit from EVERYBODY's innovation, work, productivity, growth.

@npub12zq…99h8 is also doing some stuff in this space (Reddit) using Shadcn. He has an innovative approach to communities and I think Shadcn might be a good choice as a UI framework as it might help standardize some things across Nostr development (?).

I'm for the individual. And specifically for the individual against collective oppression, in any form. Ideology, nation-state, religion, etc, etc, etc. In my world there is better philosophy and not so good philosophy. And that's how I see the world. For me, this is all individuals legitimizing undemocratic and opressive ideas. Nation states are irrelevant. You lose your private property. You're not gaining any "sovereignty". You've now lost your house, life, etc, etc. You are not more sovereign if you actually escaped.
And then a lot of it attached to fear. "Do you think they'll stop before they get to you?". That's bad karma basically. You're finding a way to justify bad karma. This in Buddhism is explained by attachment, aversion, or ignorance.
There's a lot to unpack here. I could do it on a recorded conversion, or podcast. Because I think this line of thinking is precisely what will eventually lead to WW3. It's exactly the same feeling the lead to WW1. Precisely the same.
Anti war always. War is not a thing of plebs. War is a thing of dictators. On all sides. Don't die for dictators. Die for true freedom.

Bitcoin influencers (and all "influencing") is a "niche" that will dissolve with better technology. There's no real need to influence people.
There's a need to educate people, not "influence" people.
Education requires long-form patience and a compassionate mindset, and also a specific goal. Not an influencing mindset.
The influencing mindset is disingenuous in nature, because it's rooted and separation, I influence you, I'm the influencer, you're the influenced. Which is like, okay? :D
It's not rooted in something specific, it's not solving a particular problem per se because everything influences everything and that's meaningless by itself. i.e what are you really influencing? There's no need to influence, there's a need to share, learn, build together, work together and educate.
So yeah, better tools will make people more connected to each other instead to "leaders".
Everyone is a leader and a follower, depending on the topic.

Oh yeah, I really like your idea of DCoSL (decentralized curation of simple lists). It's incredible stuff and I think it can/will be a great source of knowledge for us all and also AI (and everyone of course in many ways) in the long term future of Nostr. I definitely see the potential for it.
Some sort of standard or agreement on a given data categorization structure is going to be very interesting for all. i.e "List of my Recipes", "Favorite Recipes", "Vegan Recipes" could be extrapolated to the biggest NIP-like structure of recipes globally. And this for everything.
I'm yet to dive deeper into it, I know there's much more meat to it.
I've been talking with @nprofile…h0r2 about this kind of stuff. I'm also a huge Logseq user/supporter and thus I'm really interested in data categorization in general.

By the way, I assume there's a huge correlation to neurology. I was just reading about it and it seems AI (neural networks) don't exactly use graph databases, it's more like vector representations. I do wonder if this will become a thing in the near future. I would say there might be a connection there. It's fascinating stuff.

I have no idea. But there's a functionality that lists the connection degree to a given person when you're in their profile (among other person recommendation algos). i.e If we're at Peter profile Linkedin gives a list of people like "John's a direct connection to Peter, can introduce you", "Carla is a 2nd connection to Peter", etc, etc.
Something like this at least :)
I still have to read more about neo4j and understand more its use cases. It's pretty cool!

In Switzerland people can vote for the rejection and initiation of any and all laws and budgets.
Switzerland is the freest country in the world AND the one with one of best quality of life, social indicators, environment indicators, etc, etc.

You're increasing their wealth too. In a world without gold, gold is the most useful thing. Because now you can actually price things much more effectively, allowing for economies of scale.
For example, housing will get much cheaper for everyone in a Bitcoinized world. Because people realize that storing value in Bitcoin is better than buying a house as an investment, lowering the house prices to their utility cost.
And thus making houses cheaper for everyone, regardless if they have Bitcoin or not.
And then it's this with everything.

I'm just saying to focus on what's the actual problem and reduce all the other things that are not. Don't suffer more than what you have to suffer is all I'm trying to say.
This is why I talked about Buddhism as opposition to other "victimhood" narratives. Because there's plenty to be angry about but that doesn't solve our/your actual problem.
Will arguing with me help solve your actual problem also? Perhaps not. That's all I'm trying to say. We should focus on the issue, not dwell on suffering. Create the alternative we want to see in the world.

I would say this exploitation narrative is still a victimhood narrative.
I think sovereignty (individual and collective) is more important than inequality. And for that philosophy is more important than anything else.
The people anywhere in the world are poor not because they're exploited, but because they exploit themselves and one another.
Being poor is a matter of perspective. One can call it poor, another calls it permaculture and simple living.
Being poor is irrelevant. What is needed is to be free (or sovereign). From themselves and from others. For me Buddhism is one of the things that helps the most, among other philosophy in general.
This exploitation narrative is still a victimhood narrative.

Not easy at all. Clients saving posts, user npubs and relays locally, and people using their own private relays would basically mean it's impossible to censor.

If Bitcoin goes to something like $200k in 2025, and it really might, and then on and on, then more people will learn about it then once they understand it's stable and it's always growing.
It takes time to understand Bitcoin. It's the next step of financial literacy and people are not taught this by the system. On the opposite as we know, the system wants people dumb and slaves to debt.

It's not just about censorship, it's about both censorship, ownership AND flexibility.
We need to own the internet and Nostr will reprice the internet (or data) basically.
Just like Bitcoin is repricing the world, Nostr will reprice data (or internet) in itself.
We always are/have the data but we never really own the data because we've never really found a way to do that in scale.
And that's what it Nostr really is. A way to reprice data so that it benefits all.

I know a lot that do, yes. But the thing is, most people have no idea of what it is and how it affects them.
Especially in Portugal, Spain, southern Europe in general, people think the EU is a good thing because "we would be poor without the EU". Basically it's welfare or slave mentality.
The fiat masters in center Europe have all the answers.
So yeah, they like it in that way. But it's clearly not an healthy relationship.

Going back memory lane, does anybody remember or noticed how Covid ended with the Ukraine war?
All of a sudden in February/March 2022, Covid silently ends. What changed? TVs stopped focusing on Covid and instead focused on the Ukraine-Russia war.
This shows that most people do live by what the TV tells us. In other words, TV was and still is the main window to reality. People believe and do what mainstream TV tells them to do (especially the newspapers). If the TV is telling us there's a problem then there's a problem.
This decoupling will take decades and there will be many ramifications.

I'm so incredible excited by all this tech. Reading about this new tech and some posts on Nostr made me realize what the future of social media is, at least for me.
The future of social media for me is completely bottom up, privacy-based, ownership-defined and highly configurable. Every single person in the world will be able to completely fine tune exactly what they want to see from their client and their content will always be available as there will be no top-down censorship anymore. Everything will be bottom-up, client-side.
And that's just beautiful and mindblowing. Because that will change everything. I believe a lot of incredible smart people don't participate in social media because of some of the factors above, i.e not having ownership, the censorship aspect, not being able to find what they want (discoverability, flexibility, filtering), overall feeling like they don't have the incentives to truly participate in the medium, especially in the longer term.
I believe the medium is the message. And the future medium is going to be incredible. There will be something for everyone and we will ALL benefit from it. It's going to be truly inclusive and revolutionary.
I'm an optimist for the future 😉

Is there a way to have posts automatically accepted in Nostr Communities?
Hi there,
That's pretty much it. Currently for me, every time someone posts in a Nostr Community you have to accept that post.
Ideally in my view posts would be published as is and then if something goes wrong or reported the admin.
Any input?
