Here's the thought process: At this point in Bitcoin's adoption, there's a good argument to be made that people understand self custody.
There's also a good argument to be made that businesses understand the need to accept all methods of payment.
But most of them don't know how to make their self custodial wallet meet their invoicing & compliance needs. Most of them probably don't know the existence of @nprofile…kvl9.
I'm not talking about the plebs here on NOSTR. Most of y'all probably have an even more robust setup than the largest Bitcoin Treasury companies.
But newer merchants need a quick way to onboard to a great solution for accepting Bitcoin for their business. I firmly believe BTCPay Server is the best solution because it is the most accessible and cost efficient method. However, most get stuck at the onboarding stage
When self-deploying BTCPay, what you don't spend in money, you spend in time. It's not easy for non-technical people to get that up and running. And Luna node may be a solution, but it gets them halfway there. They want a plug & play solution ready to go. After BTCPay Server is up and running, you still need to configure your options.
This is where @nprofile…cjhs shines. The server is ready. All that's left is for Satcona to set up your store how they want it, and plug in the wallet you want to use. Satcona configures BTCPay for merchants. In other words, Satcona provides a cost efficient service to get you to accept Bitcoin in the wallet you like without the hassle.
#AskNostr Do you know any merchants that want to accept Bitcoin in a self custodial way? Did they stop trying because setting up BTCPay server is too complicated? Consider having them reach out to Satcona, and they'll be up and running before you can say SHSS.

I rented a public bike yesterday in my city and docked it 30 mins after
My timers been running for 24 hrs+ and obvs the bike is no longer where I left it.
Called tech support and told me to wait 7 days and if the bike is not returned then we'll talk.
Not the first time I rented a bike and returned it. But this obviously happens after I buy a "seasonal pass".

As a new Bitcoiner and a non dev, it was hard for me to understand what was going on.
May I suggest an alternative solution:
We need a NOSTR version of GitHub ASAP.
I don't know how it would work but the idea is preventing censorship of discussion.
The conflict of interest is evident. Actions speak louder than words and the fact @nprofile…juhy and/or other core devs decided to block @nprofile…m3mt from commenting on the PR is a fact.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Bitcoin core devs seem to be on a path to corrupt Bitcoin and reduce its monetary properties to a mere afterthought.

I hate the fact that I need to hope for this PR to not come through but hey, that's the point of Bitcoin. Its resilience is to be constantly tested so that the threat model constantly gets better. I think there's a "fork" or another repo that's continuing the work.
You can search for syncthing on zap store and you'll notice 2 versions.
@nprofile…eua6 is in my WoT ANC recommended the "discontinued" version but I think the other version is auditable enough for you to decide if you want to run it.
I'm not a developer so idk how to verify that the code for that 2nd repo is safe.

I'm thinking about this because I want to build a Nostr app for my selfish use case.
Login with nostr is optional. But it helps sync cross platform.
If you're not logging in there's no sync. It's that simple. Like obsidian. You don't need to use sync, but if you want it, you either figure it out or pay for the service.
With Nostr, I'm not as familiar, but the alternative could be like self hosting on your relay is free, but special Nevents to get your app to sync can be reserved / hidden behind paid relay, hosted by the developer of the Nostr App.
On top of that, here's an additional design feature to bolster adoption:
Downloading from zap store is free, downloading from Playstore / app store is paid.
I'm not a developer but I think what I described is possible? 🕵️‍♂️
Will be exploring this as I'm testing out vibe coding a nostr app

I saw the trump bot post the screenshot of Elon Musk's South Africa criticism, and I'm now reading about South Africa and the recent expropriation law passed.
Idk bruh. I'm reading Atlas Shrugged right now. A law based on public interest sounds an awful lot like the laws that were passed in Atlas shrugged banning intellectual property in times of crisis, as it is in the interest of the public.
AP says this law can only be used in "specific cases". But what does that mean. Where is the journalistic integrity here. Follow through, explain those use cases.
Define the undefinable. What is of public interest that gives right to seize private property.
Intellectual honesty would remove race from this debate. Yes I agree what was done to South Africans by colonials was horrendous. And this law seems to just be a boujee version of "an eye for an eye". Or worse. "A soul for my father's eye".
No surprise it's one of the most violent countries in the world.

2. I can't figure out how to add books to my list. Read, currently reading, or to be read. How do I do this.

I lived as a student a couple of years back.
European version of Singapore. You obey the rules. No exceptions. No grey area. Everything is very black and white, but the laws are reasonable.
However, I believe it's been slowly declining the further away we get from their gold standard era.
I didn't know it at the time but realized later as I discovered Bitcoin. The reason their society thrived and allowed itself to remain neutral all these years was because of the gold standard.
My hypothesis is that the gold standard period of Switzerland allowed for thriving of education, self development at a reasonable pace.
People may not see the link, but it's one of the only other countries I know of where guns are legal. The difference is this law comes with the flip sides of mandatory military service and excellent education that empower people to be civilized and avoid mutual destruction.
Discipline was everywhere. From the punctuality of trains to the cleanliness of streets. I think this was enabled by their gold standard. And as I mentioned earlier, I think we're now beginning to see the cracks of Switzerland moving away from that model in 1973, when they moved away from gold backed currency exchange rates to floating exchange rates.
