If Monero comes up with anything useful then eventually that tech will be rolled into Bitcoin at some level. There’s only one interwebs, just like there will be only one Bitcoin.

I read someone describe it recently as something like "bitcoin hipsterism". Bitcoin is popular now, so they move to less popular stuff. Monero can't scale to popularity, so the hipsters that moved there will be safe.
