Running a public file host is definitely weird and teaches me a lot about myself.

On one hand, I'm extremely lenient and don't do a lot of moderation. I think out of the over 3,000 files that have been uploaded so far, I've only deleted like around 20. That's a pretty good track record. I can only imagine what larger file servers have to deal with.

But on the other hand, there have been those few instances where I feel the need to nuke something immediately. There are the obvious candidates like CP. But I've also found out that I don't really want to be hosting a bunch of dick pics either. But tasteful nudes and other things like that I'm okay with. It also turns out I'm not willing to host extreme gore either.

And this kind of goes against my desire to give people privacy and not snoop into what people are uploading. But on the other hand, I want to make sure that primarily people on nostr are the ones using the file host. So I've been trying to figure out non-invasive ways of finding out what's been uploaded is actually being used on nostr somewhere And that people not on nostr are just using this as a random file dump.

I don't really know what the point of this post was other than just random thoughts. And that hosting public services is kind of weird.
