Because as a form of money and Store of Value Monero objectively is inferior to Bitcoin (as any other altcoin) due to its unlimited supply and relatively centrilized development. When it comes to using it just for private transactions it would require both parties to buy/sell Monero (in most cases through centralized exchanges) which by itself poses unneeded privacy risks. So considering there is a viable level of privacy on Bitcoin available (and it only becomes better with time), there is little to no need for another asset or currency.
