Culturally around me, I see a cultural shift where folks actually feel relieved to be diagnosed as diabetic or pre-diabetic. They desire affirmation that their health issues are beyond the their control. Wanting a way to explain to family and friends why they are overweight. Doctors are also incentivized to give out these diagnoses based on lab results slightly outside normal ranges and prescribe medications. It’s not a great direction for humanity.
