@patcharcan There's more than one way to see it. On one hand you could take relativistic causality as a given and then conclude that nothing can transport a signal faster (because that'd be a cause) like you said. On the other you could take Maxwell's equations as an empirical observation and deduce the geometry of spacetime, and that's the approach Einstein used.
