if I got a car, and it's something I'm trying to avoid as car ownership would pretty much bankrupt me (possession, maintenance, and gas if it's a gas car which it would pretty much have to be because of price), I'd probably go with something like the (upcoming) Kia EV4, the sedan. It looks pretty cool, it's less oversized, it's a Kia so compared to other similar cars it's probably somewhat cheaper (and also my mom has a Kia now so that's what I'm most comfortable with), and it's electric and I love all things electric.
Even though I'd never own or buy a Tesla, I'd love to test-drive one, just to see how it feels. If I had to rent a car, I might be okay with renting a Tesla, mostly if it's a trip I'm familiar with (so the danger is less).
The biggest reason I don't drive at all right now though, is that insurance is fucking expensive, and it's mandatory. So I'm pretty much priced out of being allowed to drive, let alone owning a car. Which is part of why I have an e-bike, it does good at what I use it for.
