The package installation process said something about missing compat-macs.el. Although Debian has only 2 versions of this package: 29.1.3.4 (in stable) and 30.0.2.0 (testing and unstable) and both gave the same message, AFAIR. Both of which are useless to Emacs 30.1, I guess?",
