so why aren’t we using it more? I assume it’s a combination of
- FUD from environmentalists unwilling to choose the lesser evil
- genuine safety concerns (Fukashima, Three Mile Island)
- lack of capacity (need to re-build the ability to build them)
- regulatory uncertainty/challenges
My impression is that there is no high-certainty path to convert money into fission-produced TWh within a decade, at least in the US.
