When I was 16 my school amalgamated with another local school. I had done my exams and with the remaining 5-6 weeks of term left, we were all being moved across to the other school.
My teachers took a chance and moved me across from being a student to being a teaching assistant, and I went from school uniform to a suit and was teaching SEN maths.
I had to teach myself long division in advance of teaching it to my class of 14 year olds.
