Main reason I see people in Nostr using custodial LN is because the have to use LNURL/Lightning Addresses in order to use the tipping/zaps functionality.
There aren’t any non-custodial LN wallets that support receiving payments via LNURL/Lightning Address.
Best solution that I know of (and am currently using) is a Btcpayserver hosted on a VM. Can enable Lightning addresses with a couple clicks.
