In the past few days, I rediscovered the #LightningNetwork by setting up a node on my
umbrel (npub1agh…mhct). It’s perfect for spending bitcoins online at shops. However, to receive payments on that node, you need enough inbound liquidity, meaning you must spend or have others open channels to you—those are the rules of Lightning channels.
Running your own node (both on-chain and Lightning) is a great way to truly understand how Lightning works. It allows you to use your own sats more efficiently, ensuring a modern transaction experience.
I also really enjoyed using
ZEUS (npub1xnf…lpr5) to connect to my Umbrel’s Lightning wallet.
