honestly my sense is everything is just kind of broken after covid and nobody wants to admit it. that's part of where all the shitty advice comes from, guys are describing stuff that was viable just a few years ago and they just can't believe it doesn't work now

there was a lot of inertia keeping things going kinda sorta okay until the lockdowns ripped the e-brake
