Not caffeine (although I'm barely awake without 4 litres of strong tea a day), but the aspartame in diet coke (never pepsi) works wonders for my imagination! Trouble is, aspartame isn't good for you and I've consequently cut right back, but some of my books were fuelled by 2 litres of the stuff per day … not surprising, as aspartame contains phenylalanine, a neurotransmitter precursor (among other things). Mildly psychoactive!
