I kinda keep thinking about this. You run for president on a platform that says explicitly that you’ll break the law in office to take money from the rich and give it to the poor. You are careful not to break any laws whatsoever until you’re in office, at which point you have absolute immunity. You can be impeached, but even then, the consequence is mainly not being president anymore, and really, I think the administration would be pretty popular.
This is how SCOTUS thinks it should work.
