In my own field, translators are expensive—consequently a lot of very good material never makes it into English. LLM translation will allow acquiring editors and agents to quickly get a taste of a foreign language work and hopefully commission a full translation for publication (human oversight is necessary to ensure the LLM doesn't simply confabulate a new story but faithfully follows the original).
