if you've been disappointed over the 8 different plurals in German not being enough random stuff to memorise, Arabic has some 10 variations on the core plural suffixes ūn(a)/īn(a) depending, not fully predictably, on word class and definiteness, plus again as many for the dual, and these only cover some 60% of tokens. the rest are "broken plurals" (جَمْعُ تَكْسِيرٍ), which change the vowels around the triconsonantal roots in fully unpredictable ways. e.g. kitāb "book" > kutub, but kātib "writer" > kuttāb, and maktūb "letter" > makātīb
