My beef has been with UX and the apps. Like mate desktop gnome 2 was peak UX but I’m just an old fuck.
Early Gnome 3 apps were just 2 apps in transition. In 4 (yeah 40s I keep forgetting the numbering) they’ve gone full “clean” and “minimal”,
KDE apps are just perfect.
