As for "what I originally wanted": I am transferring files to a low-power device, so low power I suspect (but have not verified) decryption is slowing down my transfers. I think what I am looking for is either the openssh "none" cipher (may require recompiling both server and client) or forcing use of the chacha20-poly1305@openssh.com cipher (cryptographically secure but designed to run performantly on low end ARM chips)
