Let's expand that to be GOVERNMENT and scam:
I live in a USA state that has engaged WithOdyssey.com as a "help state businesses help our low income families with education". The dimensions of government 'intervetion' stupidity blows my fucking mind, and that's after benefiting from it.
So this group convinces state lawmakers to allocate money for low income families to receive $1000/kid for educational supplies, something most politicians will get behind cause the optics make them look good.
To keep those "greedy corporations" out only in-state vendors are allowed on the platform.
So families apply, get funding and get on the site to start ordering. Stuff looks expensive but we think "Well, it was free money". One of the things my wife ordered was "Colored cardstock and 2 reams". When we opened the box it was a bundle (75 sheets) of colorful cardstock and 2 reams of Amazon Basics copy paper.
I ask my wife, "Did you really order this?" Her jaw dropped as she was expecting something like a box of colored cardstock because the WithOdyssey price was $65 (English as a second language, not knowing what a ream was).
We quickly search the cardstock, $10 at Walmart, and the aB paper, $20 NON-bulk. So a 216% mark up to help local businesses. PLUS they got state sales tax on it.
