You technically don't pay for gas with Evo (the big local car share), but that cost is still rolled into the per-hour cost of the car, which is extremely high compared to the cost of operating an owned car.

There's a tax on car purchases, but if you trade in a vehicle, you only pay tax on the delta, so if I got another car today, I'd effectively have paid no tax on my old car.
