I think of them as being members of a social construction, rather than sharing DNA. How else can you have Jews from every geographic location? From China, Mexico, India, Iran, Middle East and throughout Europe; they all don't share the same DNA, it is cultural, the way they were raised and their belief system that make them Jews. They may or may not share the same DNA, but they don't share Jewishness, the same culture and beliefs.
