First of all: I boosted your message so I agree with your advise :)
We can probably split security and privacy.
Nostr has less privacy because DM events are public, so everyone can saw who and how much you are talking to.
Instead the security is practically about the same (asymmetric cryptography). I'm not a crypto expert for sure so I cannot discuss the details, but both messages are encrypted in a way that is not hackable at all.
My reply was to alert that Signal has not something special if we consider the threat well explained in your post: "you do not have any control over the key management of your chat partner". If partner's key are leaked you are bursted. I was just focusing this point.
Then of course the key management is more user friendly - so secure - on Signal and the average UX is better, no doubt; this also is related with the Nostr clients' beta status.
