Watched some of the VP debate, and the CNN and BBC reports on the Iranian attack, and it's clear that the line the Western media is spinning is that the attack was "defeated and ineffective".

One explanation for that is that the US doesn't want an escalation, so calling the attack "ineffective" exonerates Israel from having to respond. In any case it's quite weird to see so many impacts and Western media and authorities just saying they thwarted the attack.
