The thing that gets me here is we know. We spent probably a billion dollars across institutions piloting and iterating and retooling and we know how to do a really effective job at keeping covid transmission to a minimum. We spent all that money, trained so many people, did SO MUCH collective and institutional muscular practice toward efficacy, and so much messaging around it ... and then threw it out the window and are now spending tens of millions to enforce forgetting. It's amazing.
