I'd wager a guess that 100% of the people in that chat room are heterosexual males, perhaps a few of them with various kinks that motivate them towards bisexual behaviour in practice. (GAMP/AGP)
Young straight males with sexual fetishes (not necessarily a problem in and on itself) turning "female" and "gay" into a sort of fashionable aesthetic, without any understanding of the oppression faced by people born into a female body, or people who are actually homosexual, is a pretty big problem.
If there's one kind of "appropriation" that is really harmful, it would be this one. It leads to girls feeling further objectified, because their bodies and fashion sense is turned into a sexualised aesthetic. Many gay men and lesbian women seem to find it deeply disrespectful, especially if such people *demand* access to gay communities.
Additionally, it worsens public perception of homosexuality. The gay rights movement fought long and hard for gay people to be recognised as virtuous citizens like anyone else, but now young people are once again starting to see it as more of a silly lifestyle choice associated with hedonism, just like some old homophobic views of homosexuality.
Add to this the massive move towards right wing politics among gen Z, and you have a recipe for a complete disaster situation for feminism and gay rights in the next decade or two.
