Isn't that just a problem of wrong activity? Exercise doesn't have to be only lifting weights. It can also be fencing, dancing, throwing stuff, walking longer distances. It can be done imperfectly like running only 4 km forever and never getting better. That's enough. Find what you enjoy and stick to the level you enjoy. It's going to be ok.
