Rise of the Ronin opens with your mentor and sword-wielding badass being some short haired Japanese Judi Dench wannabe but thankfully she dies at the end of the prologue. The game runs perfectly for me up through this until the open world where they remind me that my Geforce RTX 3060 is below the requirements (Is it? I don't know if a GeForce GTX 1060 is better or not). I guess I can turn on upscaling and frame gen but I'm not a fucking faggot, but that's probably what they are aiming for.
The combat isn't totally parryslop but at the same time it is. Nearly every single attack is staggered in some manner to throw off you twitch parrying every time the bad guy does anything. Enemies get hyperarmor any time they feel like attacking even if you are beating on them. Combine that with damage basically being nothing but chipping against the enemy HP bar and the biggest hits come from the posture break special hits and you have essentially Sekiro but coming at it from Nioh's direction rather than Souls.
Really glad I didn't pay for it because if Body Types didn't turn me off, Judi Dench mentor would have.
