My major question about this fracas is whether Riley is still a bigoted racist shitheel, or whether he's actually grown out of it and abandoned his xenophobia. According to the article you linked, he parted ways with the NF at some point prior to the 2016 interview that's quoted.
Do we actually know this? Presumably the story he submitted to F&SF isn't putting out strong fascist vibes, or it would probably have been rejected.
