#OTD 2 August 1862 John W Bosseck enlisted in the Union Army, serving in Battery E, 1st Illinois Regiment, Volunteer Light Artillery. He was born in Montgomery County, Indiana, in 1843, and died, unmarried, at age 80, at Spivey, Kingman County, Kansas. He stated in his pension application that, "Deafness came on during heavy cannonading in the service."
John was buried in a family plot near Cunningham, Kansas, along with his sister and brother-in-law, my third-great-grandparents.
