Prepping for Spring and I am ready to at last torpedo discussions in my online classes. The students hate them. I’ve utilized every creative iteration possible and the students still hate them. Seeing my own daughter as a college student—a hard-working, “nerdy” college student at that—taking online classes and talking about how dumb the discussions are (even when she moved the class otherwise) just drives what I’ve always known home.
