Again, not trying to attack you, it's just that was a typically American naive comment.
Like, appealing to the courts to prevent an abuse of power, as if there was any sort of constitutional guardrails and checks and balances on the legislative/executive power (or on the judiciary itself)... in Europe?
That's just not how Europe rolls, my friend. The State is unbound to any sort of limitation on its power to rule.
The only reason why it doesn't go full North Korea is that Europe's historical path took it somewhere else, and the status quo needs to play "democracy". The frogs can only be boiled slowly. But boiled they will be.
