Perhaps the most annoying function of the GPS navigation is "correcting" your position to match the planned path.
Let's say I suddenly turn around and start walking back. The app's going to claim that I'm standing in place for a short while — until I'm so far away it can't pretend anymore. What's even worse, if I take a wrong turn when roads branch narrowly, it's going to claim that I'm walking the right one until they start diverging significantly. Then, it will suddenly "teleport" me to the other one and tell me to turn back.
I suppose that if you're driving a metal box, that's not much of a problem because you're going to pass the threshold soon enough. However, I've learned learn to stop the navigation function when I have doubts, and switch to orienting the map against the magnetometer for good measure.
