In the west we’ve really tried hard to normalize the separation of a child from their family.
Babies should be with their mothers, and you can’t be too affectionate or spoil a baby too much. It’s not possible. Being attached at the hip is ok.
Crazy how some people try to have them sleep separately at 2 months, rush them into daycares and separate lives for our bullshit work obsessed culture. And it’s SO sad that it’s now a privileged thing to be able to stay at home with your baby when most parents have to both work just to make ends meet.
Anyway…we’ve regressed terribly in this area as a society. It doesn’t have to be this way. And luckily even amongst myself and many of our liberal friends, prioritizing family and stay at home mom (for a time or permanent) is being discussed as a good thing.
