Yes would definitely recommend and most of my family and some of the friends/acquaintances are using it just fine. There is no need for the terminal most of the time if ever (rich KDE System Settings in combination with some distro settings like YaST in openSUSE and MCC in Mandriva enable this). But it sure is handy to have the option for a terminal, it is far easier/quicker for all to just copy/paste a line of text to do something, especially giving help remotely.
